Also called peridot and chrysolite, olivine is another common gemstone found throughout the annuals of history. Revered by ancient Egyptians and esteemed by Romans, olivine faded from popular fashion after the Middle Ages. However, during the 1990's, a huge deposit of the worlds finest olivine was found in Pakistan, thus bringing olivine back into the limelight.

Olivine strengthens and protects the organs in the thorax, especially heart and lungs. It improves the immune system by stimulating the thymus gland, and protects against dehydration. Pyschologically, olivine creates inner harmony, reduces anger, and combats depression. It can also transform negative feelings of selfishness and coldness into positive feelings.

Astrologically, olivine/peridot is associated with Cancer and Leo.
