Amber

Called the honey stone, or petrified sunlight, Amber has a long and glorious past as one of the most revered stones for self-healing. Often bits of insects and plants are found inside the stone, thus it was thought it contained the essence of life. Vikings believed amber were the tears of their beloved Freyja, the goddess of love. Ancient Chinese believed amber contained the souls of tigers and the sun. Greeks and Romans claim amber was the setting rays of the sun on the sea.

For thousands of years amber has been used to stimulate metabolism, treat skin problems, and help allergy suffers and asthmatics. It is also know to help strengthen the heart muscles.

Astrologically, amber is associated with Gemini, Leo and Virgo.
